Derrick Luckassen made his first appearance for the Ghana national football team in their 2-1 defeat to Germany as the black stars continues to assess their squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

‎The 30-year-old defender, who recently switched international allegiance to represent Ghana, was handed 34 minutes on the pitch during the friendly against Germany national football team.

‎Despite the team’s 2-1 defeat, Luckassen delivered a composed display, contributing defensively with two clearances and competing strongly in several duels during his time on the field.

‎His inclusion reflects Ghana’s efforts to strengthen their backline as they prepare for the global tournament in North America, where they will face Panama, Croatia and England in the group stage.

‎‎Although the Black Stars showed signs of improvement against Germany compared to their heavy loss to Austria, the result extended their winless run to four matches, raising concerns over consistency and sacking if head coach Otto Addo by the GFA.

‎For Luckassen, the debut represents an important step as he looks to cement his place in the squad, with the defender now hoping his performance has done enough to earn a spot in the final selection for the World Cup.
