One dead, several injured in Obuasi–Dunkwa highway crash

A fatal collision on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway has left one woman dead and several others hospitalized.
The accident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, September 9, near Sanso Junction when a Kia truck (registration AS 1434-17) driven by 31-year-old Yahaya Abdul Samed crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (registration AS 3789-21) driven by 32-year-old Ibrahim Yusif.
The Sprinter, which was en route from Obuasi to Dunkwa with 23 passengers on board, sustained severe damage.
Multiple passengers suffered injuries and were immediately rushed to the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation Hospital for treatment.
Tragically, 62-year-old Mary Boatemaa, a passenger on the bus, died on the spot. Her body has since been taken to the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary.
Police say investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the crash.
