Respect and support Black Stars new coach Carlos Quieroz – Asamoah Gyan

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has urged Ghanaians to rally behind new Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz as the national team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, who previously managed Egypt, Iran and Colombia, was appointed on a four-month contract following the dismissal of Otto Addo in March.
Addo left his role after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany in international friendly matches ahead of the tournament in North America.
Speaking to Channel One TV, Gyan described Queiroz as one of the most accomplished coaches in world football and called for patience and support from fans.
“Bringing in a new coach, we shouldn’t look down on the coach because he is one of the best coaches when we talk about CVs and everything,” Gyan said.
The former striker, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, represented the Black Stars at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups and remains one of the country’s most influential football figures.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia for the tournament.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on 17 June before taking on England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.
As part of preparations for their fifth World Cup appearance, Ghana will face Mexico in a friendly on 22 May before a final warm-up game against Wales on 2 June.
With expectations once again high around the national team, Queiroz faces the challenge of rebuilding confidence and guiding Ghana beyond the group stage on football’s biggest platform.
