Samartex awarded GHghs500,000 for clinching first Ghana Premier League title

In a remarkable achievement, Samartex has clinched their first Ghana Premier League title in just their second season, earning GH¢500,000 (over $33,000) for their victory.
The champions were crowned on Sunday in a vibrant ceremony in Samreboi, where they defied expectations to secure the top spot.
This year’s prize for the league champions represents a significant increase from the GH¢300,000 awarded to last season’s champions, Medeama.
In addition to the trophy and medals, the monetary award underscores the progress and growing investment in the league.
Teams finishing in the top 10 will also receive monetary rewards. Accra Lions, finishing second, will receive GH¢200,000.]
Third-placed Berekum Chelsea will get GH¢100,000, while fourth-placed Aduana will receive GH¢80,000.
Other rewards include:
– Nsoatreman, finishing fifth, will receive GH¢70,000.
– Asante Kotoko, finishing sixth, will receive GH¢60,000.
– Nations, finishing seventh, will receive GH¢50,000.
– Medeama, finishing eighth, will receive GH¢40,000.
– Dreams, finishing ninth, will receive GH¢30,000.
– Bechem United, finishing tenth, will receive GH¢20,000.
However, former champions Hearts of Oak, who narrowly escaped relegation and finished in 14th place, will receive no prize money.
Samartex, celebrating their historic achievement, plans to use the prize money to prepare for the next season and their participation in the CAF Champions League.
Despite the substantial prize money, the club will seek additional investment, particularly from corporate sponsors, to meet the demands of continental competition.
