The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured Ghanaians that recruitment into the country’s security services under an NDC administration will be strictly merit-based.

He stressed that political connections or party affiliations will not influence the recruitment process, insisting that only qualified and competent candidates will be considered.

Speaking in the Akatsi North constituency on Thursday, October 16, 2025, as part of his nationwide thank-you tour, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the policy is aimed at restoring professionalism, balance, and fairness in the security sector.

“We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally. We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames to ensure that the services are truly representative and professional,” he said.

He added that the NDC is committed to creating a transparent, credible, and inclusive security recruitment process that reflects the country’s diversity and promotes national unity.
