Nations FC captain Razak Simpson says he is unsure about his future at the club despite remaining under contract, after leading the side to a historic MTN FA Cup victory over Dreams FC.

The defender was speaking after Nations FC defeated Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties in the 2025/26 FA Cup final at the University of Ghana Stadium, capping off one of the most remarkable cup runs in recent Ghanaian football history.

Although speculation continues to surround his next move, Simpson insisted his immediate focus is on celebrating the achievement.

“Yeah, right now I have a contract with Nations. So we don’t know what will happen. Right now we have won, we are celebrating. I have to go home and enjoy more then when next season comes we see,” he said.

Nations FC’s triumph came despite the club suffering relegation from the Ghana Premier League, making their FA Cup success even more extraordinary.

The final ended 1-1 after extra time. Joseph Effah put Nations FC ahead in the 31st minute, but Dreams FC responded just before half-time through Abdul Razak Salifu to level the score.

With neither side able to find a winner in extra time, the contest was decided by a penalty shootout, where Nations FC held their nerve to secure a 5-4 victory and lift the trophy for the first time.

The win also etched the club’s name into Ghanaian football history. Nations FC became only the second team in more than three decades to win the FA Cup after being relegated from the top flight, matching the achievement of Voradep in 1992.

For Simpson and his teammates, the victory represents a fitting end to a season that delivered both disappointment and glory, while questions over the captain’s future are likely to dominate attention in the months ahead.
