1/10The matters of dating and marriage
The news of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ marriage almost caused an Internet meltdown this month and what amazed their fans was that the couple decided to tie the knot after dating for less than six months. On being asked about their short courtship period, Nick even opined, “Both of our parents got married quickly. When you know, you know.”
2/10Contrary to what is believed
Getting married to someone is considered a deliberate and time-consuming decision but it seems it is not the case. A recent study indicates that people actually take less than six months to decide whether someone is marriage material or not.
3/10The study
The researchers at the University of Chicago surveyed 2,000 people–married and singles– and asked them questions related to how many days and dates they took to decide whether they liked someone and to what extent.
4/10The number of days
The research concluded people take 172 days on an average to decide if they would like to tie the knot with their lover. Guess, Nick and Priyanka did not take a hasty decision!
5/10What singles think
Participants who were single needed more time to take the call and told researchers they would need 210 days.
