Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has warned the Black Stars against complacency ahead of the much-anticipated match against Panama in the 2026 world cup group stages, describing the Central American side as hardworking and dangerous opponents.
Speaking to SuperSport Blitz, the former Black Stars winger said while excitement is building around the fixture, the players must remain fully focused and avoid underestimating their rivals.
“Everyone is looking forward to the game against Panama, but we should not underrate them,” Kingston said. “These are teams that work very hard.”
Kingston believes the encounter will test the players both physically and mentally, noting that Panama’s style of play could pose a serious challenge.
“These are games, I believe the players will be ready for,” he added. “Most of the players look up to them, and they play just like the English team, so it will be a tough one and an exciting one as well.”
The former Hearts of Oak midfielder said matches like this often bring out the best in players, especially when facing disciplined sides with a strong work ethic.
With fans eagerly anticipating the clash, Kingston’s message serves as a reminder that reputation alone does not win games. Preparation, discipline and respect for the opposition, he said, will be key to success.
