Black Queens set to play three friendlies ahead of WAFCON tourney

The Black Queens will play three international friendlies against Malawi, Botswana, and Nigeria as part of their final preparations for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The warm-up matches are designed to sharpen team cohesion, build match fitness, and test tactical setups ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
The fixture schedule is as follows:
- ? June 21 – vs Malawi at the Ziaida Complex, Benslimane
- ? June 25 – vs Botswana, also at Ziaida Complex
- ? June 29 – vs Nigeria (Super Falcons) at the Lanouria Complex
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren emphasized the importance of the friendlies:
“We want to test ourselves against different playing styles and team dynamics. Malawi and Botswana provide technical and disciplined opposition, while Nigeria offers the challenge of a traditional powerhouse.”
The Queens begin their WAFCON campaign on July 7, facing defending champions South Africa in their opening Group C clash.
