The Bolgatanga District Court has issued an order prohibiting the planning and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku, following a request from the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

The court order, issued on Thursday, September 25, restrains the president and members of the 2025 Damba Festival Planning Committee from undertaking any festival-related activities.

REGSEC says the move is aimed at preserving peace and stability in Bawku and surrounding communities, where tensions have remained high in recent months.

The prohibition will remain in effect until further notice.
