Flagbearer aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have drawn their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s highly anticipated presidential primary, scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The balloting exercise was held at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Friday, October 10, 2025, and was conducted under the supervision of the party’s National Elections Committee, in accordance with the electoral guidelines issued on July 29.

Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, drew the number one position, placing him at the top of the ballot. He was followed by former Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who secured the second spot.

Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, widely seen as a frontrunner in the contest, picked the third position on the ballot.

Former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, drew the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The outcome of the balloting sets the stage for a competitive internal election, as the party prepares to select a candidate to lead it into the 2028 general elections.
