Dr Randy Abbey, Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, has clarified that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not received any formal interest from Eddie Nketiah, Callum Hudson-Odoi, or Francis Amuzu regarding potential national team involvement — despite widespread media speculation.

The discussion intensified following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with fans and pundits eager to see dual-eligible talents bolster the squad.

“Officially, I’m not aware of Eddie Nketiah showing interest in the Black Stars. It’s the same for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Francis Amuzu,” Abbey told Sporty FM.
“I only read about it in the media.”

Amuzu, previously linked with Ghana in 2022, has since expressed openness to a call-up, stating on Asempa FM:

“It is a dream for me to play for the national team of Ghana… If it comes, good. If it doesn’t, I have to work harder.”

His comments suggest a genuine interest, though no formal approach has yet been made.

With the Black Stars preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance, the potential inclusion of foreign-born talents remains a strategic and emotional talking point. But as Abbey’s remarks confirm, speculation alone does not equal commitment — and the GFA will await official declarations of interest before any decisions are made.
