Two Injured After Gas Tanker Crash at Nkawkaw Apesika

Two people sustained injuries following a road traffic accident involving a gas tanker at Nkawkaw Apesika in the Eastern Region on Thursday morning, June 11, 2026.

The incident triggered a swift emergency response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service after a distress call was received at approximately 9:08 a.m.

According to the Fire Service, a five-member rescue team from the Mpraeso Fire Station, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Effah, was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide emergency assistance and secure the area.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a gas tanker involved in an accident, raising concerns about potential safety hazards due to the nature of its cargo. The rescue team quickly initiated emergency operations to protect road users and nearby residents while preventing any further danger.

The firefighters successfully rescued two male victims affected by the crash. The injured men were subsequently handed over to emergency medical personnel and transported by ambulance to Nkawkaw Roman Hospital for treatment.

Fire officials said the rescue operation was completed successfully, with the situation brought under control without any fatalities.
