Kwadwo Safo Akofena has been arrested alongside two other suspects in connection with the shooting of his sister, former Dome‑Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.

According to a police statement, Akofena reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on Monday before being transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with inquiries into the June 21, 2026, incident.

A subsequent search of his Kwabenya residence and vehicle uncovered 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of 45 calibre ammunition, 25 rounds of 40 calibre ammunition, several loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols—one registered in his name.

Police investigations also led to the arrest of Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson. All three suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

The latest arrests follow the earlier detention of six private security guards in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, bringing the total number of persons in custody to nine.

The Ministry of the Interior has also suspended the operating licence of Kantanka Security Services Limited, whose personnel have been linked to the incident, pending the outcome of investigations.

The police said investigations are ongoing.
