Stop discussing our marriage in bublic – Obinim warns Florence

The long-running marital dispute between the Founder and Leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, and his estranged wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim, has taken another dramatic turn, with the outspoken preacher issuing a stern public warning for his wife to stop discussing their marriage during media interviews.

The latest development comes as the couple’s highly publicised marital challenges continue to dominate public discourse, with both parties making separate public appearances in recent weeks to address issues surrounding their over two-decade marriage.

While Florence has openly shared her frustrations and emotional struggles, Bishop Obinim now insists such public discussions are only worsening the situation.

Speaking during a church service, Bishop Obinim criticised Florence Obinim’s recent interview on Peace FM, where she responded to questions regarding their strained marriage, the possibility of dropping the “Obinim” marital name from her stage name, and the brand-new Toyota RAV4 she recently received as a gift from a businessman through Service Machinery Ghana Limited (SMGL).

According to the controversial preacher, his estranged wife should avoid discussing their private marital issues whenever she appears on radio or television programmes. He maintained that interviewers may ask such questions, but Florence has every right to decline to answer them.

“When you go for an interview and you’re asked about your marriage, tell them that’s not the reason you’re there. Keep your mouth shut and stop talking. You are pushing me,” Bishop Obinim cautioned.

He further stressed that media appearances should focus on the purpose for which guests are invited and not become platforms for discussing private family matters, arguing that Florence’s continued public comments were escalating tensions instead of helping to resolve the impasse.

His remarks come only days after Florence Obinim, during the same Peace FM interview, declared that she would willingly stop using the “Obinim” surname if her husband ever instructed her to do so.

According to the gospel singer, names do not define a person’s destiny or divine calling, insisting she would adopt another name if necessary.

“If Bishop ever asks me to remove his surname from my name, I would do so and choose another name,” Florence stated.

The gospel artist also revealed that despite remaining patient and supportive throughout their marriage, she would not stand in the way if Bishop Obinim eventually decided to dissolve their 22-year union.

She explained that she had done everything possible to preserve the marriage but believed that God’s will should ultimately prevail.

In recent weeks, Bishop Obinim publicly disclosed that he had moved out of the family residence into a mansion at Trasacco, insisting he had no intention of returning to the matrimonial home. He further declared that not even his own parents could persuade him to reunite with his wife.

Florence Obinim, on her part, has continued to speak about the emotional pain she has endured throughout the separation while appealing for prayers for her husband.

Her public revelations have attracted widespread sympathy, culminating in the presentation of a brand-new Toyota RAV4 by a businessman who said he was touched by her resilience during the difficult period.
