Asante Kotoko announce Abdul Karim Zito as new head coach on a two-year deal

Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko have announced the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as substantive head coach for the next two years after his role on interim basis.

The club confirmed the appointment of the experienced tactician in an official notice on Sunday, July 20.

“We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our head coach for the next two years,” Asante Kotoko shared in a post on X.

Abdul Karim Zito is set to continue the role after serving as interim head coach since April 2025.

Kotoko, on April 22, 2025, appointed the tactician as the club’s new Technical Director and assigned him to take charge of the first team following the sacking of former head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.

It is unclear if Coach Abdul Karim Zito retains his role as Technical Director or the club is set make further  appointments in the coming days.

The former Dreams FC boss guided the record Ghana Premier League winners to clinch the MTN FA Cup title in the 2024-2025 football season and also led the Porcupine Warriors to beat Hearts of Oak to win the 2025 President’s Cup.

The former national youth coach is expected to bring in extra energy which will lead to continued success at the Kumasi-based club going into the 2025-2026 domestic and continental campaigns.
