The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has strongly denied reports suggesting that it is considering the sale of its newly constructed $260 million headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.

The clarification follows a publication by MyJoyOnline on June 1, 2026, which alleged that the central bank was exploring the possibility of selling the facility.

In a statement issued in response to the report, the Bank categorically rejected the assertion, stating that there are no discussions, plans, or considerations underway regarding the sale of the headquarters.

According to the BoG, the facility was built to enhance its operational efficiency and support the effective execution of its statutory mandate, making it an important national asset.

“The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters,” the statement stressed.

The central bank urged the public and media organisations to disregard the publication, warning that inaccurate and unverified reports could erode public confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary uncertainty within the market.

BoG further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that all official information is communicated through its website, verified social media platforms, press releases issued by its Communications Department, and statements signed by the Secretary of the Bank.

The Bank also encouraged media houses to seek clarification directly from its officials before publishing reports concerning its operations and policies.
