Bawumia can lead NPP back to power in 2028- Sammy Awuku

Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, has declared his firm support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, expressing confidence in the former Vice President’s ability to return the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to power in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 19, Awuku commended Dr. Bawumia’s leadership during challenging national and global periods, including the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and various global economic disruptions.

“I believe Dr. Bawumia presents us with a very good opportunity to win 2028. Some of us are of the unshaken belief that the difficulties we faced as a government over the last four years the post-COVID era, economies around the world in turmoil, the global shocks and all. Dr. Bawumia did a good job.”

He pointed to Dr. Bawumia’s resilience, competence, and personal integrity as key attributes that distinguish him as the right choice for the party’s leadership moving forward.

“He stood in the gap for the NPP, and I believe in his personal achievement and records, his character, and the strength of his character, and the integrity that he also has,” he  said.

Awuku’s remarks add to a growing chorus of endorsements for Dr. Bawumia as internal discussions within the NPP intensify ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
