Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a decisive lead in the contest to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections, according to the latest National Tracking Poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.

The poll, carried out between December 1 and December 21, 2025, shows Dr. Bawumia securing 56 per cent support among all respondents. He is followed by Kennedy Agyapong with 28 per cent. Dr. Bryan Acheampong and Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum are tied at 6 per cent apiece, while Kwabena Agyapong trails with 4 per cent.

Dr. Bawumia’s lead widens significantly among core NPP supporters. Within the party’s voter base, 72 per cent of respondents expressed support for the former Vice President. Kennedy Agyapong follows with 19 per cent, while Dr. Acheampong garnered 4 per cent, Dr. Osei-Adutwum 3 per cent, and Kwabena Agyapong 1 per cent.

The results suggest a race increasingly tilted in Dr. Bawumia’s favour, with his closest challengers trailing by wide margins. Analysts say the divided support among the remaining contenders could further consolidate his position as the contest approaches its final stage.

The National Tracking Poll covered all 16 regions of the country and employed a mix of web-based, telephone and face-to-face interviews. It carries a 99 per cent confidence level with a margin of error of ±1.1 per cent.

With the NPP’s leadership election scheduled for January 31, the findings place Dr. Bawumia firmly as the frontrunner.
