Ghana head coach Otto Addo has continued his hands-on approach to national team management by visiting Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante in England, as preparations gather pace for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Addo met the 26-year-old attacker at Coventry’s training base, where Thomas-Asante is completing his recovery after a spell on the sidelines. The visit forms part of the Black Stars coach’s wider tour of Europe, aimed at reconnecting with players, assessing fitness levels and reinforcing relationships ahead of Ghana’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

Thomas-Asante has not featured for Coventry City since 25 November 2025 after picking up an injury that disrupted his momentum during the season. However, the forward is now understood to be back in training and edging closer to a return to competitive action.

The meeting underlined Addo’s commitment to maintaining close contact with his playing pool, particularly those recovering from injuries or working their way back to full fitness. Since returning to the Black Stars job, the former Ghana international has made player welfare and regular communication central to his approach.

For Thomas-Asante, who remains keen to cement his place in the national team setup, the visit offered reassurance and motivation at a crucial stage of his comeback. The Coventry striker has previously been on Addo’s radar, with his physical presence, work rate and eye for goal making him a potential attacking option for Ghana.

With players spread across Europe and beyond, the Black Stars coach has opted for direct engagement, watching matches, visiting training grounds and holding one-on-one discussions in a bid to foster unity and readiness ahead of the challenges to come.

As Thomas-Asante continues his recovery, both club and country will be hopeful that his return to action comes soon, keeping him firmly in contention as Ghana’s World Cup journey gathers momentum.
