Douglas Owusu joins Hapoel Tel Aviv in €2.2m Red Star switch

Ghanaian-Serbian winger Douglas Owusu has joined Hapoel Tel Aviv from Red Star Belgrade for €2.2m, completing a move to Israel’s Ligat ha’Al.

The 20-year-old has signed a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv until 30 June 2030. Owusu plays on the right wing and is left-footed, giving the club a wide attacking option who can operate from the opposite side of his stronger foot.

Owusu arrives after a successful 2025-26 campaign with Red Star, during which he won the Serbian league and Serbian Cup. Those honours marked his first senior trophies with the Belgrade club, adding to the Serbian Second League title he secured with FK Radnik Surdulica in the 2024-25 season.

Born in Cape Coast, Ghana, on 10 April 2006, Owusu holds Ghanaian and Serbian nationality. He stands 1.65m tall and has spent the early part of his career in Serbian football, with his move to Hapoel Tel Aviv taking him into a new domestic competition.

His latest transfer was completed on 5 August 2026, shortly after Red Star’s title-winning season. The fee of €2.2m makes the move a significant piece of business for Hapoel Tel Aviv as Owusu begins the next stage of his career in Israel.

Owusu’s previous club was Red Star, where he added league and cup success to the second-tier championship won with FK Radnik Surdulica. He now starts his Hapoel Tel Aviv spell under a deal that runs through June 2030.
