Driver rescued after car overturns multiple times on fog-covered Akropong–Akufo Road

A driver is receiving medical attention after a frightening road accident on the Akropong–Akufo road on the night of June 1, 2026, left him trapped inside his overturned vehicle.

The crash involved a Toyota Corolla that reportedly flipped several times after striking a pothole while navigating a sharp bend under heavy fog.

The combination of the treacherous road surface and severely reduced visibility proved devastating, sending the vehicle out of control before it came to rest off the road.

Residents in the vicinity responded quickly, pulling the driver to safety before emergency responders could reach the scene. He was given initial first aid before being conveyed to the Mampong TQM Hospital for further medical attention.

The full extent of his injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.

The incident has reignited concerns about the state of the road, with residents and motorists pointing to the dangerous pairing of deteriorating road conditions and poor visibility during foggy nights as a disaster waiting to happen on that particular stretch.

Authorities are expected to look into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
