Emmanuel Boahene’s lone strike hands a win to Victory Club Warriors against Aduana Stars in preseason friendly
In a thrilling preseason friendly held at the Wenchi Methodist Park on Sunday afternoon, Emmanuel Boahene’s solitary goal proved to be the difference as Victory Club Warriors triumphed over Aduana Stars with a 1-0 victory.
This win is a significant boost to Victory Club Warriors’ preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 Access Bank Division One League.
The eagerly anticipated match featured a special performance by Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, popularly known as Amerado, the reigning Ghana Music Awards best rapper. His act delighted the thousands of fans who had gathered at the stadium.
The early stages of the game were evenly balanced, with both teams showcasing their skills in midfield, providing entertainment for fans who had traveled from various corners to witness this historic clash at the Wenchi Methodist School Park.
In the final twenty minutes of the match, Victory Club Warriors, based in Wenchi, began to dominate proceedings and their impressive display paid off with Emmanuel Boahene breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute. Boahene brilliantly converted a well-placed pass from Hayford Boafo, leaving Aduana Stars goalkeeper Yaw Ansah Fufro with no chance.
Aduana Stars, a two-time Ghana Premier League champion, faced intense pressure from Victory Club Warriors, prompting Coach Yaw Acheampong to make three substitutions, bringing on Fiifi Anderson, Benjamin Arthur, and Bright Enchil for Shaibu Iddrisu, Emmanuel Obuobi, and Derrick Afesson, respectively.
Despite late efforts from Aduana Stars’ attacking unit, led by Isaac Mintah, Victory Club Warriors remained resolute at the back, ensuring they entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The second half of the game witnessed numerous goal-scoring opportunities for both teams, but neither side could find the back of the net.
