Every day we’re becoming more prepared – Thomas-Asante Confident on Black World Cup preparations

Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says the Black Stars are growing stronger with every training session as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and next week’s international friendly against Wales.
The squad trained at Dragon Park in Cardiff on Thursday, with 22 players taking part as the intensity of preparations increased ahead of Tuesday’s test match.
Several players joined the camp for the latest session, including goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, defender Abdul Mumin, midfielder Kwasi Sibo, Jonas Adjetey and Prince Kwabena Adu.
Their arrival has added further competition within the squad as coach Otto Addo continues to assess his options ahead of the tournament.
Thomas-Asante, who helped Coventry City secure promotion to the Premier League after an impressive campaign, admitted the players are still recovering from a demanding club season but remain fully focused on building momentum with the national team.
“Today was another really important session,” he said.
“It’s tiring after the season, and we’re getting our bodies prepared for another push, but every day we’re becoming more prepared.
“I’m happy to be here, and we definitely want to prepare in the right way to go and be successful.”
The Black Stars are using the training camp in Wales to improve fitness levels, sharpen tactical understanding and strengthen team chemistry before the World Cup begins.
Tuesday’s friendly against Wales is expected to provide a significant test for Ghana as they fine-tune preparations for the global tournament.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face Panama, Croatia and England in what promises to be a challenging group.
