Expect more from me in the new season – Felix Afena-Gyan

Ghana forward Felix Afena-Gyan has pledged to produce even better performances next season after completing a successful loan spell with Turkish club Amedspor.
The 23-year-old played a key role in Amedspor’s promotion to the Turkish Super Lig during the 2025/26 campaign, ending the season with five goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
With his loan deal now over, Afena-Gyan is set to return to Italian side Cremonese, where he hopes to build on the momentum gained in Turkey and re-establish himself at club level.
Speaking to Citi Sports, the Ghana international expressed confidence that his best is yet to come.
“Ghanaians should expect more from me in the new season because that’s the job I have to do,” he said.
Afena-Gyan burst onto the European football scene during his time at AS Roma, where he scored a memorable late brace to secure a dramatic Serie A victory over Genoa under then-manager José Mourinho. The performance earned widespread praise and marked him out as one of Ghana’s most exciting young prospects.
However, injuries and stiff competition for places have slowed his progress in recent years, leading to loan opportunities as he sought regular playing time.
His spell at Amedspor appears to have revitalised his career, with consistent performances helping the club earn promotion to Turkey’s top flight while restoring his confidence in front of goal.
As he prepares for the new season with Cremonese, Afena-Gyan will be aiming to translate that form into regular first-team football. Strong performances could also boost his chances of cementing a place in Ghana’s Black Stars squad as the team prepares for upcoming international assignments.
