Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic has expressed interest in becoming the next Black Stars coach following the sacking of Chris Hughton.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is in search of a new coach after terminating the contract of Irish-Ghanaian Chris Hughton last week due to the team’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Reports from local media suggest that the 57-year-old Serbian tactician has submitted his application to the GFA, aiming for a second spell with the national team.

Stevanovic previously managed the Black Stars between 2011 and 2012, leading the team to the semifinals of the continental showpiece.

With experience managing various clubs, including Cukaricki Partizan and Qingdao Jonoon, Stevanovic is looking to make a return to guide the Black Stars.

Ghana exited the 2023 AFCON at the group stage, failing to win any of their group games and finishing in third place in Group B behind Cape Verde and Egypt. The GFA has set February 2, 2024, as the deadline for the submission of coaching applications.
