Ghana confident in fuel pricing policy and supply security framework – NPA

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has said that ongoing geopolitical tensions and conflicts in various parts of the world continue to influence global energy markets.
He noted, however, that Ghana remains confident in its pricing policy framework and supply security arrangements despite external pressures.
Speaking at an exclusive breakfast meeting hosted by the NPA for chief executives within the downstream petroleum sector in Accra on Monday, Mr Tameklo said recent government interventions in fuel pricing were carefully designed with industry stability in mind.
“Government interventions over the past two windows (GHS2.00 per litre on diesel and GHP36 per litre on petrol) and the next two windows (GHS1.07 per litre on diesel) were well thought through with the risks to your businesses very well considered,” he stated.
The engagement brought together regulators, industry leaders, and policymakers to deepen stakeholder collaboration, improve the regulatory environment, and promote networking aimed at strengthening the downstream petroleum sector.
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, and the Deputy Minister for the sector, Richard Gyan-Mensah, participated in the meeting.
Also present were Deputy Chief Executive Dr Sheila Addo and members of the NPA Executive Committee.
Dr Jinapor reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to support economic growth and stability.
The meeting concluded with consensus on a series of measures aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustaining growth within the downstream petroleum industry.
