The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Bole Township and its surrounding communities in the Savannah Region following rising tensions linked to chieftaincy disputes.

The curfew, which took effect on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, will be enforced daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.

In a directive signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the decision was taken on the advice of the National Security Council through an Executive Instrument.

Government has urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents to remain calm, exercise restraint, and use peaceful dialogue to resolve their grievances.

As part of the security measures, there is a total ban on firearms, ammunition, and offensive weapons, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.

Additionally, authorities have prohibited more than two persons from riding a motorbike simultaneously and banned the wearing of war regalia.
