I want Mahama to fail so NPP can win 2028 elections- Boakye Antwi

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, said he does not wish for President John Mahama to succeed in office, citing his desire for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2028 general elections.
He believes that the NDC lacks the competence to govern effectively.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, July 1, Boakye Antwi clarified that his stance is not rooted in a desire for the country to fail, but rather in skepticism over the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) ability to deliver on its promises.
“I want him [Mahama] to fail, I want my party to win the 2028 elections. I don’t want him to fail, as in fail. But I know that NDC cannot do much in terms of what they promised,” he stated.
Reflecting on his experience in government, the former MP suggested that internal political challenges often hinder effective leadership issues which he believes the NDC will also encounter.
“I have been in government, and sometimes, as a President, your appointees will make sure that you fail. The kind of things I saw when we were in government are the same Ghanaians in the NDC, so it will be transferred across there,” he explained.
The former MP further argued that his doubts about the NDC’s economic competence reinforce his position.
“I don’t want Mahama to succeed as in succeeding, because I want my party [NPP] to win… In terms of the actual management of the economy, I don’t think the NDC has what it takes,” he said.
