I will continue to honour my promise– Asiedu Nketia defends thank-you tour

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has defended his ongoing nationwide thank-you tour, describing it as a responsibility to express appreciation to party members and supporters for their role in the NDC’s 2024 electoral victory.

The tour marks his second round of post-election engagements since the party assumed office in January 2025.

While some political commentators have criticised the move, arguing that such tours are typically led by the presidential candidate, not the party chairman, Asiedu Nketia insists the exercise reflects the NDC’s core values of gratitude and solidarity.

Speaking to party faithful in the Hohoe Constituency on Tuesday, October 14, the NDC Chairman dismissed the criticisms.

“Those who disagree with me can continue with that, and I will continue to honour my promise. That is why I am here,” he said. “It also sits very well with our tradition that when you go and beg somebody to give you something, and you are given what you request, the next thing is to go and say thank you. That is why I have come to say thank you to everybody.”

He stressed that the tour is not an act of political showmanship but a sincere gesture of appreciation to the party’s grassroots, volunteers, and supporters who worked hard to secure the party’s victory.
