Ibrahim Tanko: “loss of concentration and injuries costed us in Kotoko draw”

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed disappointment after his side surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Asante Kotoko in their Matchday 12 Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Tanko’s Assessment
Tanko admitted that his team’s grip on the game slipped due to fatigue and injuries:
“I will say we lost concentration, and I have to say that because of injuries, it was really painful. After leading 2-0, the game ended in 2-2. I mean, this is football and we have to go and work on our mistakes.”
He further explained that substitutions came too early, leaving the squad short of options in the final stages:
“Maybe we made our changes earlier, and in the last twenty minutes we couldn’t have anyone to change, and you could see that some of our players were tired.”
Despite the frustration, Tanko insisted his side deserved all three points:
“Normally before the game if you say I should take three points, I will agree. But how the game went, definitely we deserved the three points — but that’s football.”

League Standings
- Medeama SC: Joint top with Heart of Lions and Aduana, all on 23 points from 12 games.
- Asante Kotoko: Fifth place, level on 21 points with rivals Hearts of Oak.
This result highlights both Medeama’s strength in building leads and their vulnerability in maintaining them, while Kotoko’s resilience keeps them firmly in the chasing pack
