If you want to stop Galamsey follow the entire value chain – Lucy Quist

Ghanaian business and technology executive and managing director for Morgan Stanley, Madam Lucy Quist has proffered solutions to end the age old galamsey menace that has bedeviled the country.
After a failed operation vanguard to fight galamsey, government of Ghana has now launched a fierce campaign to flush out illegal mining.
The government has recently deployed 200 personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces to help fight the galamsey menace in parts of the Central and Western Regions.
But the former Chief Executive Officer of Airtel, Madam Lucy Quist has suggested that government must do more than just dive out the miners and burning their excavators and equipment.
She says in order to get to the roots of galamsey, the government must follow the money that is the kingpins who finance the activities of the small time illegal miners.
According to Madam Quist there must be a thorough investigations into where the galamsey money goes in order to stop the menace.
She took to her social media handle to write: “Want to completely solve Galamsey? Then investigators must take the time to follow the money! Follow the entire value chain and not just the small-time illegal miner who makes the least money in the chain. Deal with all making money out of this to fully eradicate the practice.”
