“I’m still in denial”: Prof. Ransford Gyampo mourns victims of helicopter crash
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has shared a deeply emotional tribute to the late Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Mohammed Murtala, following their tragic deaths in the military helicopter crash on Wednesday.
Speaking with heavy emotion, Prof. Gyampo admitted he is struggling to accept the reality of their loss.
“I am still living in a state of denial, hoping that until I see them dead in their caskets, it’s difficult for me to believe.”
He expressed a lingering hope that the ministers might have somehow survived and were simply lost in the forest.
“I am thinking that maybe we have to go to the forest again, hoping that we will find them hiding somewhere. Maybe they missed their way… they are lost. It is very painful.”
Prof. Gyampo’s remarks underscore the profound grief and disbelief that continues to sweep across the country as Ghanaians come to terms with the loss of prominent national figures in such a sudden and tragic manner.
The crash, which occurred during an official operation, claimed multiple lives and has triggered a three-day national mourning period. Ghanaians across all walks of life are paying tribute and joining in public events to remember the departed.
