Black Stars and Cercle Brugge midfielder, Lawrence Agyekum has made a heartfelt donation to his community and childhood friends during an unannounced visit to them at Ashaiman Nii Amui Park.

The 21-year-old had a stellar campaign in the just concluded 2024-2025 Belgium Pro League season with his side Cercle Brugge as he helped them survive relegation in the relegation the playoffs where he featured in all eight games as he  pulled off blistering performances in all. He scored four (4) goals and provided two (2) assists which propelled his team to survive relegation in the just ended season.

He made his Black Stars debut in March as he received a late call up to replace injured Elisha Owusu in the World Cup qualifying game against Chad, a match which Ghana thrashed the visitors at the Accra Sports Stadium by 5 unanswered goals. He came on to replace deputy captain Thomas Partey on the 83rd minute of the game.

Further more after his Black Stars debut, the flamboyant midfielder went back to his club, scored and assisted in the final game of the month of March and was subsequently named Player of the Month by his club as he had a superb and impressive month, marking his international debut and scoring and assisting his first ever goals since joining last summer on loan.

Due to his stupendous performances day in day out for his club, the side have also rewarded him with a long-term contract as his deal has been made permanent and is expected to continue with the Belgian outfit until 2029.

Days after he appended his signature on paper to represent Cercle Brugge formally, top European clubs have announced their intentions to snap up the Ghanaian international as he has been on their radar for sometime now. He had a stellar finish to the campaign as he also featured in the UEFA Europa Conference League with his club last season.

He featured for Ghana at the Unity games in London where he started the third place game against Trinidad and Tobago as he was able to grab his debut goal for the Black Stars in the 4-0 win. He scored the final goal of the game after which he was subbed off to make way for youngster, Abdul Aziz Issah.

During the offseason, the 21 year old made a surprise visit to his old community where he was bred and made a heartfelt donation to the local community football pitch where he used to play football before earning the opportunity to play at the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) for his development and nurturing.

He donated football equipment namely balls, jerseys and gave out undisclosed amounts of gifts for his community, the Ashaiman Nii Amui Park.
