Mahama ask Ghanaians to give EC room to do its work
President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians not to pressure the Electoral Commission (EC) to do what is against its own rules but allow it carry out its constitutional mandate.
He states that Ghana will be proud irrespective of the outcome of the polls. The Electoral Commission on Thursday at a news conference stated that it will not kowtow to pressures from political parties to release the results adding that it was better to delay and release a credible one.
According to Chairperson of the EC Madam Charlotte Osei, it was resorting to the laid down processes before results could be released allaying fears this was meant compromised the outcome in favour of one party.
In this regard, the president on his official twitter handle said;
Let’s allow EC to carry out its constitutional mandate. We’ll make Ghana proud no matter outcome.
