Mamelodi Sundowns wins CAF Champions League

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have once again risen to the summit of African football after being crowned champions of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, securing only the second continental title in the club’s history.
A decade after their memorable 2016 success, the Pretoria-based side completed a remarkable campaign to reclaim Africa’s biggest club prize, sparking jubilant celebrations among supporters across South Africa and beyond.
Nicknamed “The Brazilians” for their famous yellow and blue colours, Sundowns produced a dominant run throughout the tournament, underlining their status as one of the continent’s modern football powerhouses.
The triumph further strengthens South Africa’s proud legacy in African club football. Sundowns now join fellow South African side Orlando Pirates, winners of the competition in 1995 as the nation’s only clubs to conquer the continent.
Scenes of celebration erupted after the final whistle, with players, coaching staff and fans marking a victory many supporters described as a defining moment for the club’s new generation.
For Sundowns, the latest success is more than just silverware, it is a statement of consistency, ambition and dominance on the African stage. Their latest continental crown firmly cements their place among Africa’s football elite.
