Medeama SC parts ways with head coach after CAF Champions league defeat

Medeama SC has taken the decision to relieve Augustine Evans Adotey of his duties as head coach following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Young Africans SC in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
The embarrassing loss in Dar es Salaam prompted the management of Medeama SC to make a coaching change.
Augustine Evans Adotey, who had taken over as head coach, will now return to his previous role as the technical director of the club.
Evans Adotey had assumed the head coach role after David Duncan’s contract was terminated earlier in the 2022/23 season.
Despite guiding the team to their first-ever Ghana Premier League title last season and winning the Ghana Super Cup against Dreams FC, the recent poor performance in the CAF Champions League has led to this decision.
In response to Adotey’s departure, Medeama SC has reportedly reached an agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina tactician Nebojsa Kapor to take over as the new head coach until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Kapor, 37, has previous experience coaching defunct Ghana Premier League side Tema Youth SC.
The club will now focus on domestic competitions, with the Ghana Premier League in progress and the CAF inter-club competitions on break for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January to February 2024.
Medeama SC’s next league fixture is against Bibiani Goldstars on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Akoon Park in Tarkwa.
