Pep Guardiola will step down as manager of Manchester City this summer, bringing an end to one of the most successful managerial reigns in modern football.

The Premier League club announced that although Guardiola will leave his role on the touchline, he will remain part of the wider City Football Group as a Global Ambassador.

In his new position, Pep Guardiola is expected to provide technical guidance to clubs within the City Football Group network while also contributing to special projects and football development collaborations.

His departure marks the close of a transformative chapter at Manchester City, where the Spaniard reshaped the club into one of Europe’s dominant forces.

Since arriving in 2016, Pep Guardiola has overseen an era of unprecedented success, delivering multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups and the club’s long-awaited UEFA Champions League triumph. Under his leadership, City became known for their possession-based football, tactical innovation and relentless consistency.

The club described Guardiola as a figure who would “remain part of the Manchester City family forever”, signalling the deep bond formed during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Supporters are expected to pay tribute to the 55-year-old in the coming days as preparations begin for an emotional farewell to a manager widely regarded as one of the greatest of his generation.

For many fans, Guardiola’s legacy extends beyond trophies. He changed the identity of Manchester City, turning the club into a global football powerhouse and influencing a generation of coaches with his attacking philosophy and attention to detail.

Questions will now turn to who succeeds Guardiola and whether Manchester City can maintain the standards established during his reign. Reports suggest Enzo Maresca

But even as he steps away from management duties, Guardiola’s continued involvement with the City Football Group ensures his influence on the club’s future is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
