Political parties must integrate technology into politics- Joshua Osih
Political parties across Africa have been urged to adapt to rapidly evolving global trends shaped by technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to remain relevant and competitive.
The call came from Mr. Joshua Osih, President of the Social Democratic Front during a panel discussion at the 2025 African Political Parties Summit.
Speaking on the theme of political communication and strategy in the age of AI, Mr. Osih stressed the urgent need for parties to integrate AI into their operational frameworks.
He noted that while social media has significantly improved political communication, it also presents challenges that require careful management.
“Social media has shortened attention spans. AI can help distill political programs into content tailored to individual voters”, he said.
Mr. Osih encouraged African political parties to remain open to new approaches that embrace innovation and technology, warning that resistance to change could leave them behind in an increasingly digital world.
