Sports Minister Kofi Adams proposes unified Management Committee for all national teams

Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has announced plans to establish a single, unified Management Committee to oversee all national football teams in Ghana, signaling a potential shift in the country’s football governance model.
Currently, each national team operates under its own dedicated committee, a structure that has drawn criticism for inefficiency and role duplication. Speaking on Asempa FM following the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Adams suggested Ghana could learn from international best practices.
“Elsewhere, it is only one Management Committee for national teams… I believe we can exploit that so that we will have one Management Committee for the various national teams.”
The proposed reform aims to:
- Streamline decision-making across all national teams
- Reduce administrative overhead and duplication of roles
- Enhance coordination between youth, women’s, and senior teams
- Align with global standards in football governance
Adams also confirmed that the Black Stars Management Committee will be financially rewarded for their role in guiding Ghana to its fifth World Cup appearance. The committee is chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, with former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah as Vice Chairman, and members Moses Armah, Samuel Aboabire, and Dr. Richard Nsenkyire.
“They have done very well, and I know they will be rewarded,” Adams said, noting that payments will come from FIFA qualification funds, not the government budget.
As Ghana prepares for the global stage, the Ministry’s reform agenda signals a broader commitment to efficiency, transparency, and long-term football development.
