TCDA sets GH¢5.22 Minimum producer price for second-grade mangoes

The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has announced a minimum producer price of GH¢5.22 per kilogram for second-grade fresh mangoes for the 2026 major production season.
According to the Authority, the price was agreed upon following consultations with major stakeholders in the mango industry, including the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) and other participants within the mango value chain.
In a statement, the TCDA explained that the decision was made in line with Section 3(f) of the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010), as well as Regulation 47(1) of the Tree Crops Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2471).
The Authority said the move forms part of efforts to ensure fair pricing for producers, improve Ghana’s competitiveness on the export market, and enhance transparency in the marketing of selected tree crops.
The statement noted that Ghana’s mango industry continues to emerge as one of the country’s key tree crop sectors, contributing significantly to export revenue generation, rural employment, and agro-industrial growth.
The TCDA further indicated that farmers producing first-grade mangoes could negotiate prices above the minimum producer price, a measure intended to encourage improved quality production within the sector.
It also reiterated that all stakeholders operating within the selected tree crops value chain — including nursery operators, input suppliers, service providers, aggregators, processors, and exporters — are required to register and obtain licences in accordance with existing regulations.
According to the Authority, the ongoing registration and licensing exercise is expected to strengthen regulation, improve standards, ensure traceability, and promote quality assurance across the sector.
The TCDA currently regulates six selected tree crops in Ghana: mango, coconut, cashew, rubber, oil palm, and shea.
