U-17 AFCON: We can beat any team – Black Starlets Coach Prosper Ogum ahead of Algeria clash

Ghana’s U-17 national team coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, says the Black Starlets are fully prepared and mentally ready ahead of their opening game at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria.
The four-time African champions begin their Group D campaign at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, where they will face Algeria with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT.
Speaking before the crucial encounter, Ogum expressed strong belief in his squad, insisting the team possesses the quality, discipline and unity needed to challenge any side in the tournament.
“This team has a good balance of talent, discipline, teamwork and determination,” he said. “The players understand each other very well, and they are prepared to fight for one another on the pitch.”
The former Asante Kotoko coach added that the Black Starlets have shown steady improvement in both their tactical approach and mental strength in the build-up to the competition.
“Technically, we have quality, tactically we are improving steadily, and mentally the players are showing maturity,” Ogum said. “These qualities give us confidence that we can compete strongly against any team in the tournament.”
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group D alongside Algeria, defending champions Senegal and South Africa.
The Black Starlets are aiming not only for a successful AFCON campaign but also qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year, as they seek to return to the global stage after years away from the competition.
