Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has heaped immense adulation on English-born Ghanaian star Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah for her vast contributions to the team in the 2024 WAFCON.
The Swedish tactician was full of praise for the Liverpool-born lady after her immense contributions and individual expertise and experience has played a major part in driving the team to reaching the third-place play off of the ongoing CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Boye-Hlorkah, 29, who previously featured for England at youth level, earned her maiden senior call up for Ghana in April 2025 under former coach Nora Hauptle and has quickly established herself as a key figure in the team.
"Channey" as she is affectionately called, is enjoying her first major tournament with the Black Queens and has featured in all five games for the Black Queens at the WAFCON in Morocco so far, notching one goal and providing an assist- all in the final group C game against Tanzania which Ghana won 4-1- a game she also won the Woman of the Match Award in.

Talking about Boye-Hlorkah, Coach Kim commended the London City Lionesses forward for her passion and commitment in the team.
"She [Boye-Hlorkah] helps us a lot. The fact that she grew up there [in England] and got experience from the league. Mentally, you are a little bit different because of that, so I think she gives the team power," he said.
The Swedish coach also praised the forward’s commitment and passion for representing Ghana.
“I’m really happy both for her and for us that she actually took this chance, and she really wants to help Ghana to win this last game and to make the people in Ghana proud,” he added.
Ghana will battle reigning champions South Africa in the third-place playoff on Friday, July 25, at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca. Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT.
