Ghana’s Black Queens  will look to reaffirm their stance in African Women's football as they battle it out for bronze at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations when they face South Africa in the third place clash on Friday, July 25.

The Black Queens missed out on the opportunity to lift their first ever African Cup trophy after losing 4-2 on penalty shoot outs in the semi final game against host nation Morocco after 120 minutes.

Stella Nyamekye, who scored Ghana’s opener in the penultimate game before Sakina Ouzraoui leveled for the Atlas Lionesses, believes the Black Queens are mentally prepared for the third place encounter against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

“We have prepared very well for this game,” she said. “Per the training we have had, we are mentally prepared for this game.”

Ghana is set to take on defending champions South Africa on Friday, July 25 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

It is set to be a familiar meeting, with both sides technically starting and ending their  2024 WAFCON campaign, as both sides met at the opening games group stages, where South Africa beat Ghana 2-0.

Morocco will battle record winners Nigeria in the finals of the tournament, with Nigeria looking to clinch a tenth continental title.
