Yussif Chibsah, a former midfielder of Asante Kotoko, has offered his assessment of Nana Yaw Amponsah’s tenure as the club’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Club Consult director failed to reveal whether Nana Yaw Amponsah’s tenure at the club should be extended but added that the board and owners of the club should evaluate his performance before deciding to renew his mandate or otherwise.

Amponsah has held the position of CEO for the past three years and guided the club to success in the league during his second year in charge.

“I think they [Asante Kotoko] would have to assess him. I just don’t want to sit here and say yes or no [regarding whether his mandate should be extended or not],” Chibsah expressed during an interview on Joy Sports.

“He’s been in the role for about three years now; the Board should request his report and evaluate him based on that. If he has done a commendable job according to the objectives set for him, the report will reflect it. Similarly, if he has not performed satisfactorily, it will be evident in the report. I just don’t want to make a definitive statement on extending or not extending his contract,” Chibsah added.

Chibsah emphasized that if a contract extension is being considered, it should be based on Amponsah’s merit and performance.

A comprehensive evaluation, taking into account his achievements and adherence to the objectives set by the club, will provide a clear picture of his effectiveness in the role.

Asante Kotoko’s owners now have the responsibility to thoroughly assess Amponsah’s performance during his tenure and make an informed decision about the future direction of the club’s leadership based on their findings.
