Polls are “psychological operations”- Pius Hadzide dismisses Dr Bawumia’s lead

Pius Enam Hadzide, spokesperson for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has downplayed the significance of a new Global Info Analytics poll that places former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the clear frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 flagbearer race.
The poll, released on Thursday, August 21, shows Dr. Bawumia with 52% support among NPP delegates. Kennedy Agyapong trails with 17%, while Dr. Acheampong ranks third with 3%. The survey, conducted between August 12 and 20, sampled 2,656 NPP delegates across the country.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Friday, August 22, Mr. Hadzide cast doubt on the credibility of such political polls, suggesting they may be tools of manipulation.
“I don’t know about it, but many of these researches are a psychological operation sometimes sponsored by politicians who seek to deceive unsuspecting audiences and to create a misleading impression,” he stated.
Nonetheless, Mr. Hadzide noted that the Bryan Acheampong campaign considers all polling data as constructive input.
“Our attitude at the Bryan Acheampong campaign is that all research, wherever they are coming from, we take it as feedback… and if there are any gaps, we work on those,” he said.
He also pointed out that Dr. Acheampong entered the flagbearer race later than his rivals and is contesting for the first time, factors he believes contextualize the poll results.
“We are very confident that Dr. Bryan Acheampong is not only the fastest growing contender in this race. Published research has also confirmed this,” he insisted.
