A 35-year-old school administrator has been remanded into custody by a Tema court after being accused of defiling a 14-year-old Junior High School graduate in Atadeka, in a case that came to light following the discovery of inappropriate messages on the teenager’s mobile phone.

The accused, Anaglate Mends Edem Kwashie, works at Ridoana Comprehensive School in Atadeka and is alleged to have engaged in an unlawful relationship with the minor, who had recently completed her basic education.

The matter was brought to the attention of authorities by Lawrencia Ahorsu, the victim’s elder sister, who grew suspicious after coming across messages on the teenager’s Snapchat account that suggested an inappropriate relationship between the minor and the older man.

Deeply concerned by what she had found, Lawrencia confronted the victim, who reportedly admitted to having been involved in a physical encounter with the school administrator at a guesthouse, though she was unable to recall the specific location.

Satisfied that the matter required police intervention, Lawrencia filed a formal complaint with the Atadeka Police, who initiated investigations and subsequently preferred charges against the suspect.

The case was forwarded to the Tema Circuit Court ‘A’, presided over by Her Honour Maame Yaa Amoakoaa Kusi Mensah.

Following the hearing, the court remanded Kwashie into custody as the legal process gets underway.

The case has drawn attention to the dangers posed by unregulated use of social media platforms among young people, as well as the critical role that vigilant family members can play in identifying and reporting abuse.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
