Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin praises new signing Emmanuel Gyamfi
Aberdeen United head coach Jimmy Thelin has heaped praise on new signing Emmanuel Gyamfi, who recently joined the Scottish Cup holders from German side Schalke 04 on a four-year deal.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian defender, known for his pace and attacking flair, caught Aberdeen’s attention after progressing through Schalke’s academy and impressing during a loan spell at Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo in the 2024/25 season.
Speaking about the club’s latest addition, Thelin expressed confidence in Gyamfi’s potential to thrive at Pittodrie.
“Emmanuel is a player we have been monitoring for some time. He possesses all the attributes we are looking for in a modern full-back. He’s dynamic and has a great work ethic,” the Dons manager said.
“His development at Schalke and his recent loan spell demonstrates his potential, and we believe this will be the environment in which he can thrive.”
Gyamfi is expected to add depth and versatility to Aberdeen’s backline as they gear up for the upcoming Scottish Premiership season and their return to European competition. His arrival marks a strategic step in strengthening the squad ahead of a demanding campaign.
