Asante Kotoko is actively pursuing Togolese international Youssifou Atte as a potential new addition to their squad. Atte, currently a free agent after departing from Congolese giants TP Mazembe, has drawn the interest of Kotoko’s management.

Negotiations are underway with Atte’s manager to secure his signature, aiming to fill the gap left by the departure of star striker Steven Mukwala to a free transfer.

Atte began his career with Ghana’s West African Football Academy (WAFA) and swiftly rose through the ranks.

He made his senior team debut in December 2017 and showcased his talent by playing a full 90 minutes in a notable 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko on 17 March 2018.

Despite interruptions such as the cancellation of the league due to the Anas Number 12 Exposé controversies and the COVID-19 pandemic halting subsequent seasons, Atte remained a consistent performer for WAFA.

He featured prominently in league matches, demonstrating his skill and earning recognition.

His impressive form caught the eye of Claude Le Roy, leading to his debut for the Togo national team in March 2020.

Atte continued to make strides internationally, marking his senior debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya on 29 March 2021.

As Kotoko seeks to bolster their squad, Atte’s experience and versatility are seen as valuable assets.

The negotiations reflect Kotoko’s commitment to strengthening their team ahead of upcoming campaigns, aiming to achieve success both domestically and internationally.
