Black Queens to face Tanzania in 2026 WAFCON preparations friendly

Ghana’s Black Queens will continue their build-up to the 2026 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with an international friendly against Tanzania in Casablanca, Morocco, on Monday.

The match, which kicks off at 6:00 p.m. local time, is the team’s second preparatory fixture as they intensify training ahead of the continental tournament.

Having already faced Côte d’Ivoire in an earlier warm-up game, head coach and his technical team will be hoping to see further improvement in the squad’s cohesion, tactical discipline and overall match fitness as the Black Queens edge closer to the start of the competition.

The encounter with Tanzania is expected to provide another valuable opportunity for the coaching staff to assess player performances, test tactical approaches and make final decisions on the team’s readiness before WAFCON gets underway.

The Black Queens are currently holding a training camp in Morocco, where they are putting the finishing touches to their preparations for Africa’s premier women’s football tournament.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Cape Verde, Mali and Cameroon, with the Black Queens aiming to make a strong impression and progress beyond the group stage.

The 2026 WAFCON will bring together the continent’s top women’s national teams, with Ghana hoping to mount a serious challenge for the title after months of preparation.
